Lake Nakuru National Park
A rhino sanctuary painted pink with flamingos
Ringed by acacia woodland and dramatic escarpment cliffs, Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya's most successful conservation stories — a fully fenced rhino sanctuary now home to both black and white rhino in healthy numbers. The alkaline lake itself is a birder's paradise, occasionally turned pink by thousands of flamingos, while troops of endangered Rothschild's giraffe browse along the shoreline.
